The body of Rosemary Mamonyi was found lying dead in her house in Shahenzo Village, Kakamega county on Tuesday 7th September 2021.

The body of the deceased who was 59 years old, was found lying in her bed with several marks of strangulation a sign that several people forcefully engaged in the act with her.

According to the neighbors who concluded Rosemary’s disappearance, she was an early riser, but on that fateful day, she was even unable to wake up.

According to one of the villagers by the name Margaret Mulembe, she had gone to the deceased’s house to inquire on her Ksh50 she had borrowed the previous night to purchase cooking oil, upon knocking on the door, no one responded, this prompted her to call upon other neighbors to determine what might happen to her.

The neighbors came and their efforts to make Rosemary open the door also fell on deaf ears, this made them take the action of forcefully breaking the door.

According to eyewitnesses, they saw the deceased body lying lifeless in bed, and to make it worse, it had no clothes on, blood was also oozing from her mouth.

It is alleged that apart from the unknown people killing and forcefully engaging in the act with their victim, they also stole a sack of maize, cockerel, and other food items.

The woman was working as a Vegetable seller at Eregi market, the villagers also suspect young idle men who only wake up to abuse drugs and roam around.

Police officers have also been blamed for the high cases of men forcing women into the act since they stay comfortable despite seeing the youths abuse drugs.

Wycliffe, the area’s chief in Sabatia has told villagers to be calm as investigations are ongoing, meanwhile, the deceased body has been taken to Kakamega Referral Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
