Meru’s county resident, Mugambi Kiroria, who is also one of the top opinion-makers in Meru county, joined the residents in calling for Kiraitu Murungi’s resignation.

The Meru governor had earlier stated that his life was stolen by politics and social pressure. He added that politicians often allow their lives to be “stolen” by other people while being controlled by the relentless desire for money and power by engaging in unimportant responsibilities in life.

Mugambi Kiroria, in an interview with Baite Tv, thanked the governor for finally waking up and realizing that politics isn’t everything and it is not always necessary to win.

He wished him the best in his retirement but assured him that when cases of public embezzlement of funds are brought up, the residents of Meru county will need answers.

“In a letter released by Governor Kiraitu, he expresses his confusion seven times. He states that the confusion was over after recovering from Covid-19. Later, he says that he wishes to retire from politics and rest.

I wrote a letter to Mr. Kaberia, the speaker of the county assembly of Meru, requesting that he invoke article 181(1)(d) of the Kenyan Constitution of 2010, which states that a county governor may be removed from office if he is physically or mentally incapable of performing the functions of the office of the county governor.

I’d like to inquire from the speaker of Meru’s county assembly on who signed the laws that were passed in the assembly stating that Nkubu municipality would be a combination of Ukuu, Kariene, Kangutu, Mikumbune, Mwichune, and Kanyakine.

Despite opposition from residents of central Imenti, the laws were passed and took effect 14 days later, while the governor was recuperating at home.

According to the laws, the central ward of Abothuguci has been relocated to South Imenti, implying that Central Imenti does not have enough population to become a constituency.

The Cental Imenti has been divided into three sections: North Imenti, Buuri, and South Imenti. Hon. Kirima should be a part of the decision-making process.

I implore Abothuguci’s leaders to oppose the laws because their constituencies have vanished. The boundaries of their constituencies were relocated to Mugambone the last time.

I demand that the speaker of Meru’s county assembly swear in deputy governor Ntuchiu and give him limited authority. After being sworn in, the deputy governor will be unable to fire or demote the lawyer, ministers, or chief officer.

The budget has yet to be read, and then the Meru finance act for the fiscal year 2021/2022 will be passed. In order for the development projects intended for the residents of Meru county to continue, a governor’s signature is required.

I have written a letter to the speaker of Meru’s county assembly, requesting that he swear in the deputy governor if the governor is unable to appear after 14 days. I have also written another letter to Mr Mutuma, the Minister of Health, inquiring about the rationing of doctors and nurses to patients.

According to the governor, he has a team of consultants, including a doctor and several nurses, who attend to his health every two hours. I’d like to know how many doctors and nurses are attending to covid-19 patients and the time intervals taken.

I also asked the CEO and Director of MOH of Meru level 5 hospital about the available covid-19 medication that had been purchased. The governor’s medication included over six different types of medications, all of which were very expensive,” Mugambi Kiroria told Baite Tv.
