Traffic police officers are said to have been bribed to issue fake business licenses. These permits allegedly allowed drivers to pass through police checkpoints with loads of grain and construction materials for which there were no relevant permits.
The anti-corruption operation involved police forces from across the North Caucasus. SK says about 80 searches were carried out, including at traffic offices, and large amounts of cash were confiscated, as well as luxury cars.
According to SK, the Safonov circuit has been accepting bribes for many years, with a total value estimated to exceed 19 million rubles ($ 255,000).
