The deputy president of Kenya, William Ruto  has said that the matter of free and fair nominations is not a favor from the UDA party but a right to every member of the party.

Ruto said it is the irreducible minimum that any member can ask of the party that if they have political aspirations, they must have the space, they must have the Democratic right and they must have the fairness to be able to compete in the party in a manner that everybody is equal.

“Let me tell you a good people. I have been in this politics for a while. I was in KANU, We came to ODM, we came to other parties huko katikati, URP, Jubilee now we are here,” said Ruto.

He said that he knew very clearly that the make or break in a party is whether the party is fair or not.

“In fact, what grows our party is the confidence of members that they have a fair chance in a political party,” said Ruto.

Meanwhile, Ruiri Rwarera MCA Hon. Peter Kalembe of Meru County has warned Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi that the Ameru people will not vote for Raila Odinga even if Uhuru comes to Meru County and promotes Raila’s 2022 presidential bid.

According to Kalembe, he is opposed to anyone who supports ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

“Raila is currently deafeningly silent because fuel prices have risen, and he does not understand what Kenyans are going through,” said Kalembe.

Kiraitu said that he fought for this country’s freedom since before Kalembe was in primary school.

“The Governor of Ruiri, Hon. Kalembe, has attacked me, questioning what I will and will not do,” said Kiraitu.

“I fought for this country so that people could think for themselves and make their own decisions,” said Kiraitu.

Kiraitu said Kalembe should not bring up the subject of dictatorship to the Ameru people.
