A man was found dead at his in-law’s home in Buathine village in Meru County.

His family members suspect it to be a case of murder and claimed that the wife plotted it.

The victim has been identified as Narman, a resident of Mukorene village. “The victim’s family claims that Narman has been murdered by his wife and in-laws,” an eyewitness said.

According to the deceased’s father-in-law, Narman’s wife along with their three children and were staying at Kathelwa. before the couple had separated due to some problems and her daughter returned home.

“When she arrived at my workplace and informed me that her husband was digging up their house, I advised her to report to the police. I advised her that it would be preferable if they split formally,” said the deceased’s father-in-law.

“She had two children from her first marriage. She left the marriage after it failed and went to work in Kathelwa, where she cooked chapatis and met the deceased. He married her without paying dowry and they had a child together. My wife left home and joined them in a rented house in Kathelwa,” he said.

“When I found out my daughter was sick, I went to check on her, but her husband cut me on the head with a machette. He claimed I went to fight with my wife. I didn’t call the cops, but I went to the hospital and got stitched up,” he said.

He said both her daughter and husband had previously moved to their rural home and lived together for a while before they fell out and she had to return home.
