Massacre: Authorities found 11 bodies, including 6 teenagers

Judicial authorities estimate that they fell victim to a powerful drug cartel

The bodies of eleven men, including six teenagers, were found Monday night in the western Mexican state , judicial authorities said on Tuesday, adding that they were the victims of a powerful drug cartel .

The bodies of 11 people aged 15 to 36 were found in a rural area in the state of Michoacάνn shortly before midnight on the day of the Feast of the Dead and All Saints, one of the most important in Mexico.

They were killed using firearms , Mexican media reported. One of the victims was 15 years old and another five were 17, according to the prosecution, which clarified that the bodies have now been identified.

Another three of the victims were 19 years old, while the two eldest were 31 and 36 years old, according to the prosecutor’s office, which did not publish any assessment of the causes of the massacre. The Michoacan is one of the 32 Mexican states that have hit the gang violence of organized crime .

Just on October 18, six people were killed during a bar attack in its capital, Morelia .

The attack was carried out by men who came out of two vehicles on the sidewalk in front of the bar, as recorded by security system cameras, with the footage being widely reproduced by the media.

The state of Michoac .n is among the strongholds of the powerful New Generation of Jalisco cartel , an opponent of the Sinaloa cartel of the most famous Mexican drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman , who has been sentenced to life in prison in the United States.

US authorities are offering a $ 10 million reward for information leading to the capture of the leader of the cartel, El Menzo, or Nemesio Osegera Cervantes.

The Jalisco New Generation cartel is one of the world’s leading producers of methamphetamines, the US Department of Justice said in March 2020.

More than 36,000 homicides were committed in Mexico last year.
