MP referred to sexual abuse trial of 15-year-old

A Conservative MP is accused of sexually assaulting a minor, who was tried next month, although he categorically denies any involvement in the case.

Imran Ahmad Khan, 47, a Wakefield MP from the north of England and a member of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party, is accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old in 2008.

On Friday, Hahn appeared on video conference in a Westminster court and pleaded not guilty. Judge Paul Goldsbring referred the case to the Old Bailey Criminal Court, which will meet on July 15.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the MP categorically denies “this accusation” dating back 13 years. “To be accused of something I did not do is shocking, it is traumatic,” he wrote, declaring his determination to “prove his innocence.”

Imran Ahmad Khan was elected to parliament in 2019. According to his website, he previously worked for the United Nations as a special envoy for political affairs in Mogadishu, Somalia.
