New details emerge after deadly fight at a bar

New details have emerged as family pays tribute to a man killed at Muili-Tigania in Meru county.

Mr. Kirianki was found dead in a pool of water outside New Peak Bar in Muili on May 16. BaiteTv understands that prior to the attack, he had been involved in a bar fight with another man who is a prime suspect in the murder.

A brother to the deceased said that he was still coming to terms with his brother’s death which occurred after an alleged bar fight. He said that the suspect was alleged to suffer a fractured leg and was admitted to St.Johns hospital.

Upon inquiry, he found out from the hospital management that the suspect had not been injured.

“The hospital administration confirmed that he was admitted because he had an NHIF card. I urge the authorities to arrest the person who took the suspect to the hospital because there is something hidden that needs to be revealed,” he said.

“On May 17, the Njuri Ncheke summoned the family to discuss disagreements, and my brother was a key witness. The suspect was apprehended and detained at the Ngundune police station,” he said.

“I urge the government to ensure that justice is served because any member of the family could be the next victim. The murder occurred prior to the hearing,” he said.

Purity, sister-in-law to the deceased said that he used to connect with her children and protect the family’s assets. She said he was a hardworking farmer who generously shared his crop with the family.

“I am pleading with the government to assist us in burying my brother. We have a large family, but the responsibility has been delegated to a few. We need money to carry out a post-moterm, and we are appealing to well-wishers to help us,” she said.

An aunt to the deceased said she was curious as to why the suspect was admitted to the hospital without being asked for an O.B number. She also wondered why the former MCA took the suspect to the hospital without first taking presenting him to the police station.

“After delivering the suspect to the hospital, he did not report the incident to the police station,” she added.
