Residents of Gisagi, Laare have cried out over days of power outage in the village and accused KPLC and a road construction company of “total neglect” of the area.

They told BaiteTV that the continuous power outage had paralyzed security and economic activities in the village.

A resident said that when a road construction company damaged the electric poles and the power was disconnected. When KPLC was contacted due to the delays to restore power, it said that it ought to have been given notice and that the damage was unplanned

“The road lacks caveats, and the trenches on the side of the road are wide, posing a risk to people. The road is also lacking marram and the construction was approved by the MCA, she said.

Another resident said that: “We were safe when the lights were on, but recently, a woman and a young man were robbed.

No one is opposed to development, but it should not be imposed on the community, and all complaints should be heard.

We urge the officials in charge of road construction, Antuambui’s chief, and the MCA to look into the matter.”
