The Taliban executed the brother of Amrullah Saleh, the former deputy prime minister who later joined the leaders of the forces that resisted the Islamist organization in the Pansir Valley.
This information was conveyed by his nephew.
The news of the execution of Rojullah Aziz Saleh comes just days after the Taliban took control of Pansir, the last province still resisting.
“My uncle was executed,” Abdullah Saleh was quoted as saying by Reuters. “They killed him yesterday and they will not let us bury him. “They kept saying that his body should rot,” he added.
The Urdu-language page of the Taliban intelligence service Alemarah reported that “reportedly” Ruhollah Saleh was killed in clashes in Pansir.
Amrourah Saleh, the former head of Afghanistan’s intelligence service, escapes arrest. It is unclear exactly where it is located.
The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, which includes forces loyal to local warlord Ahmad Massoud, says it will continue to resist the Taliban even after the fall of Bazarak, the provincial capital of Pansir.
