The elderly man was sent by the children’s parents when they managed to raise $ 73,000 by selling land and everything else they had .

The 136 students were abducted from an Islamic school in Tegina last May. Gunmen on motorcycles entered the small town and opened fire, killing one person and injuring another.
As the residents fled, the kidnappers went to the school and abducted the children. The parents and the school authorities negotiated with the criminals , agreeing to pay a ransom.
They sold part of the land that belonged to the school, as well as other acquisitions.
As school principal Malam Abubakar Alhasan told the BBC, six people were sent with the exact amount of ransom to meet with the kidnappers in the forest, near where the children were abducted.
