Shiite Muslims are the majority of Iraqis and live mainly in the south and east of the country.

The  Islamic State  (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for a bomb attack at least two dead and 23 wounded Thursday evening in Baghdad.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in the Iraqi capital, Kadmiya.

It was initially reported that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder, but on Friday morning, the Iraqi authorities “corrected”, citing an unknown cause.

The Islamic State claimed that the target of the attack was a Shiite religious site.

The bomber struck near the mosque of Imam Musa al-Qadim and Imam Mohammed al-Jawad, the seventh and ninth imams of Shiite Islam, respectively.

Shiite Muslims are the majority of Iraqis and live mainly in the south and east of the country. Sunnis live west. The Kurds are in the north
