Two Men from Maua town were attacked by a horse and were rushed to Nyambene sub-county hospital. One was in his early twenties and the other about thirty years old.

According to Dr. Githu Wachira, one of the men was bitten on the stomach, while the other on the hand.

Dr. Githu Wachira told BaiteTv that the doctors injected the men with the rabies vaccine to prevent them from contracting the disease after being exposed to the rabies virus.

“There is a 100 percent protection rate when a person is vaccinated with the rabies vaccine before the virus enters the body.

We urge anyone else who has been bitten by the horse to visit the hospital as soon as possible for vaccination.

Zoonosis is the scientific term for rabies disease, an infectious disease that is spread from a non-human animal to humans.

Dogs, horses, and donkeys are among the warm-blooded animals affected by the disease. Warm-blooded animals are all raised at home.

Rabies is caused by a virus that is passed on from one animal to another through bites. The disease is primarily transmitted between dogs and occurs when one infected dog bites another unvaccinated dog.

When a dog infected with the rabies virus bites a human, the virus can be transmitted. The virus has a 10-day incubation period before it begins to show symptoms in humans.

The proportion of deaths from rabies disease compared to the total number of people diagnosed with the disease is 100% once the symptoms starts developing,” said Dr. Githu Wachira, MOH Igembe south and Nyambene sub-county hospital.
