Dp Ruto Spells Out Political Strategy To Court Maasai Community

Deputy President William Ruto appears to have adjusted his political strategy in order to court Maasai community members in Kajiado County.

Ruto has now resorted to visiting prominent Kajiado power brokers at their houses rather than meeting Maasai delegates at his Karen residence. Delegations have been led to his Karen residence by Kajiado South MP Katoo ole Metito, Nominated Senator Mary Seneta, Kajiado West MP George Sunkuiya, and Senator Philip Mpayei.

The foursome claimed they were collaborating with eight members of the county assembly who were allies of the Deputy President.

Ruto has switched tactics, sneaking into county unseen to meet his “foot soldiers” away from the political officials he had previously entrusted with spreading the “hustler Nation” story. Local businessman Daniel Lepatei hosted Ruto at his Enkasiti residence in Kitengela last Sunday in a highly guarded meeting attended by community power brokers.

When confronted by fans following the meeting, DP claimed that he had only come to see a “buddy for nyama choma.”

“We’re hoping for grassroots support for UDA. The visit demonstrated that the DP is capable of reaching the common mwananchi, and that reaching out to him does not require the use of a politician as a conduit.
