Senator Loitiptip Who Allegedly Shot a Woman in Club Freed on Ksh 500,000 cash bail

Laikipia court has released Lamu Senator, Anwar Loitiptip, on 500,000 shillings cash bail or Ksh 1M bond with one surety.

He was arrested for unlawfully discharging his firearm and injuring 32 year old Joy Makena last Saturday in Nanyuki town.

Nanyuki Resident Magistrate, Vincent Masivo, noted that there were no compelling reasons to detain the accused for further five days as requested by the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

He has been ordered to report to Directorate of Criminal Investigation Laikipia every two days.

Meanwhile residents of Kiambu County have been urged to embrace alternative dispute resolution mechanism to reduce the backlog of cases in the region.

The Law society of Kenya, Kiambu chapter Chairperson Beth Mwangi in a event to mark legal awareness week also urged lawyers to be open to offering probono services to the public.
