The UDA Election Will Be Conducted In A Free And Fair Manner, Ruto Said

Deputy President William Ruto has assured those who want to run for office in the next general election with a ticket from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party that the party’s primaries will be conducted in a free, fair and acceptable manner.

He said he was committed to strengthening the party to be a national figure and that would bring unity, good governance and development in the country in the long run.

“We are building a big party that will be owned by the people. This is why we are committed to ensuring that our nomination of candidates is conducted in a free and fair manner that will be acceptable to all participants. We want to witness a situation where the losers in the race support those who will win in order to collectively enable UDA.

“In the UDA qualifier everyone will be the winners. No one will fail. Those who lose will be included in the list of nominees to serve as MPs and special councilors, ”Dr Ruto recalled.

The Deputy President was speaking at his official residence at his official residence on Karen Street, Nairobi when he met a total of 600 candidates for various seats, for a UDA ticket, Nairobi County.

Leaders who attended the meeting were Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok, Senator Millicen Omanga and MPs; James Gakuya (North Embakasi), Benjamin Gathiru (Central Embakasi), John Kiarie (South Dagoretti), George Theuri (West Embakasi) Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Nixon Korir (Lang’ata), Alice Wahome (Kandara) and John Wanjiku (Cloth).

Dr Ruto said the UDA would change the country’s political system by “removing it from tribalism and initiating a debate on economic growth.”

“We aim to build a country that gives equal opportunities to all. In UDA, your success will depend on your hard work and dedication, not on someone you know, ”he said.

UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina said the party would work with all leaders and in consultation with all candidates for political seats.

“There will be no shortcuts in UDA. The results of the selection will be decided by the voters, ”he said.

There have been fears among Dr Ruto’s candidates that the UDA election may not be conducted in a free and fair manner.

This is after some politicians in the Tangatanga faction such as Moses Kuria and former Minister of Agriculture Mwangi Kiunjuri have refused to break up their parties to join UDA as direct members.
