On Friday, the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) arrested 12 people in Makueni County for allegedly using prohibited plastic bags.
The suspects were discovered with an array of 1,000 plastic bags, Makueni County NEMA Director Leonard Tampushi told KNA during the exercise.
Tampushi warned that investigations are going on to establish the source of plastic paper bags and the authority will not relent until the culprits face the law.
An NEMA enforcement team, backed by National Police service officers, arrested the 12 in Wote city.
