Tensions between Waiguru, Ngirici expected to continue

Must read

The political tension between Governor Anne Waiguru of Kirinyaga and Women’s Representative, Ms Wangui Ngirichi, continues to push the two candidates for the United Democratic Alliance UDA party ticket of Deputy President William Ruto.

Investigators say tensions between the two are expected to continue before the party’s appointment.

This is despite Deputy President William Ruto appearing yesterday urging the two to maintain political unity.

Before Dr Ruto arrived yesterday at the All Saints Anglican Church (ACK), Kianyaga, Ms Waiguru claimed to have “received threats” from the police.

The situation was said to be due to the deep political turmoil that existed between Ms Waiguru and Ms Ngirichi’s political camps, where both announced their intention to run for governor in the county next year.

“The Chief of Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) in Kianyaga area has instructed my staff to come to the department’s offices for questioning. He is threatening to arrest them before Dr Ruto arrives, ”complained Ms Waiguru.

Earlier, several youths marched in protest over the burning of clothing emblazoned with Ms. Waiguru’s logo.

They threatened to disrupt Dr Ruto’s visit, if Ms Ngirichi was not “properly included” in the visit.

However, Ms Ngirichi accused Ms Waiguru of deliberately “conspiring” to tarnish her image.

The dictatorship began a few days before yesterday, when they both posted huge ads on social media inviting Dr Ruto.

“I invite Dr Ruto to meet and interact with the residents of Kirinyaga. Their choice is the UDA party, ”said the advertisements posted by the two on social media.

Although Dr. Ruto accompanied the two parallel to the meetings he addressed and gave them an equal opportunity to speak, analysts predict that the tyranny will continue to flare up.

In recent days, Ms Waiguru has received criticism from some leaders in the county, after urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire Homeland Security Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho.

Ms. Waiguru has been accusing Dr. Kibicho of “meddling” in the politics of the county, while she is a public servant.

“President Kenyatta should fire government officials who have forgotten their job and intervened in politics. If they have failed in their mission, then they should resign and start campaigning, ”said Ms Waiguru, accompanied by Dr Ruto in Embu County last week.

Dr Kibicho has been seen to maintain closeness to Ms Ngirichi.

“The image we see now is of a conflict that will not end soon. It will be a repetition of the same image witnessed in 2017 between Ms Waiguru and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua. It is a tension that can continue even after the gubernatorial election is over, ”says Dr Geoffrey Sang ‘, a political analyst.
