Raila begins his Coast tour, his first stop being Mpeketoni

Former Prime Minister landed in Manda Island on Saturday evening in the company of Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir among other leaders.

They were welcomed by Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha and Eliud Kinuthia, Chairperson of the National Police Service Commission.

The former Prime Minister attended a service at the ACK Church in Mpeketno before addressing area residents

He held a series of rallies in Witu and Lamu island at around 1pm. He was expected at Kamkunji grounds, Hindi town and Mkunguni by 5pm.

Mt. Kenya leaders Jeremiah Kioni, Maina Kamanda, Nakuru Governor HE Lee Kinyanjui were among the leaders who joined Raila Odinga⁩ on his tour of Lamu County today. Dir of Elections ⁦Junet Mohamed⁩ was also present as well as area MP Hon. Muthama.

Raila soared a moment off his busy schedule to visit the ODM Party office in Lamu West Constituency. He was received by the party officials on the ground.

Raila Odinga will on Monday proceed with his Coastal tour with visits to Malindi in Kilifi County before rounding up his visit with rallies in Kwale, Likoni and Mombasa on Tuesday.

Odinga has been marketing his Azimio la Umoja initiative, imploring Kenyans to foster unity and peaceful coexistence ahead of the 2022 polls.

His return to the coast region comes even as the former premier seeks to consolidate his base that backed his three previous presidential bids.

The party is still mourning the death of employees of Mvita MP Abdullswamad Nassir who died Saturday evening near Mpeketoni in a road accident.

They were heading to Lamu to attend an ODM meeting ahead of Odinga’s tour.

The four died on the spot when the vehicle they were travelling in had a tyre burst and rolled several times
