At least 12 members of the armed forces were killed in an attack in the northwestern region of Burkina Faso on Sunday, while seven others are missing, three sources close to the security forces told Reuters.
The attack has not been officially confirmed by the army so far.
Reuters sources said the attack took place in the Buckle du Moun area, near the border with Mali. No action has been taken on the action.

Last Saturday, members of the Army Special Forces killed two jihadist leaders in the area, the government said.
Attacks by jihadists swearing allegiance to al Qaeda or Islamic State have multiplied in the Sahel. Thousands have been killed and millions displaced in recent years in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
Gunmen killed 30 people – civilians, soldiers and pro-government paramilitaries – in a series of attacks near the border with Niger on Wednesday.
