At least two civilians were killed and at least six civilians were injured in air strikes by the Israeli Air Force in central Syria, state television said, adding that there was also material damage.
Earlier, the same source said that arrays of the Syrian air defense were activated to counter the Israeli attack on Homs.Remaining Time-0:00FullscreenMute
The “Israeli air strike” targets areas of central Syria and “the air defense is reacting,” state television reported.
There has been no comment from Israel so far.
Since the outbreak of war in Syria in 2011, Israel has launched hundreds of strikes, with few air strikes, against positions of Syrian government forces and their allies, Iranian and pro-Iranian armed groups, particularly the Shiite militia.
The Israeli military rarely acknowledges publicly that it is conducting operations in Syria; however, it confirmed earlier this year that it had hit at least 50 targets in the war-torn country last year. The Israeli authorities often say that they will not allow Iran, a sworn enemy of the Jewish state, to build a bridgehead on Syrian territory.
