Sean Clark was just 39 days old when he was found dead at his father’s house in January 2018.
The baby had rib fractures and head injuries that allegedly came from both his father, James Clark, and his mother, Helen Jeremy. “Much of the evidence” shows that the baby’s father is responsible, prosecutors say, according to the BBC.
Sean allegedly suffered fractures on the afternoon of January 11 and 3 days later received the attack that took his life.
His mother, Jeremy, lived with the baby in her parents’ home in Bristol, while James lived with his mother in Warmley. On the weekends they would stay in each other’s homes with the baby.
According to court documents, Jeremy and Sean had gone to James’ house on January 11 to stay there for the weekend.

The two parents spent most of their time from Thursday afternoon to Sunday morning in the bedroom playing games on the PlayStation and watching movies.
The baby was with them all the time. The mother had searched the internet for babies coughing up blood, and had sent a message to her mother saying that Sean was crying a lot.
“When the baby’s body was examined, it was found that he suffered 71 fractures in his ribs during his very short life. These fractures were not all caused on the same occasion but on at least three different occasions. It was also found that he had injuries from the very shaking shortly before his death “, said the prosecutor.
Deny the accusations
Both parents deny the accusations.
“It appears that the perpetrator of the fatal incident is the father, who probably caused the injuries while the mother was asleep or was not present,” the prosecutor said.
The trial continues.
