The prison is being evacuated due to the fire, according to the representative of the penitentiary service of the country of Asia.
Forty people were killed when a fire broke out in a prison in Indonesia’s Baden province on the western tip of the island of Java, according to Rika Aprianti, a spokeswoman for the Asian Penitentiary.
“The cause of the fire is being investigated,” said a spokeswoman for the fire, adding that it broke out in the early hours of the morning, between 01:00 and 02:00.
The prison is being evacuated due to the fire, the spokeswoman added, without specifying the number of inmates in it.
