Five men masquerading as police officers lured a middle-aged man out of a bar and bangled him in their vehicle in a kidnap attempt in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
The victim, Charles Semo, raised an alarm after he screamed, grabbing the attention of residents who were going about their business.
The kidnappers tried to speed off using Isinya road but were sandwiched by boda boda riders who got wind of the matter and acted with speed.
“One of the men said I was being arrested because I did not have a mask. They said they were taking me to the police station,” Semo stated.
Irate residents vandalised their vehicle and landed on the five with kicks and blows.
The suspected kidnappers escaped death by a whisker after they were saved by police officers who quickly responded to the distress calls.
The vandalised vehicle was towed to the Kitengela Police Station.
