The seven journalists revealed to Citizen TV on Sunday, April 25, that they were beaten by a battalion of police officers while on assignment.
The journalists were assaulted while covering Tana and Athi River Development Authority demolitions (TARDA)
The journalists were released on Sunday after spending the night at Yatta Police Station with Mbeere South MP Geoffrey King’ang’i.
“It was a bad incident for us as journalists. We were brutally beaten at the time. This is the second incident in Embu County involving the same issue. Journalists are being assaulted by officers in uniform.
“This should stop and never happen again to journalists in this country,” one of the journalists said.
