What Ruto, Raila, Kalonzo & Mudavadi’s supporters fear most from Wanjigi

Must read

The announcement by businessman Jimi Wanjigi that he will be on the ballot in 2022 might scuttle the norm that the presidential race is among the top bigwigs, and more so a two or three horse race.

Wanjigi joined his party leader Raila Odinga (ODM), Deputy President William Ruto, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper party) and Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) in race for the top post even as the succession politics takes shape.

In his first interview with Citizen TV, Wanjigi articulated a number of issues and also revealed that he has been the mastermind behind several government projects and political decisions in Uhuru-Ruto and also President Kibaki’s era.

Michael Ndonye, a Political Economist argues that Wanjigi might to some extent win the support of the Kenyan voter who at the moment seem to have been fed up by the political tension, and public outburst among the influential leaders and presidential hopefuls.

He also adds the fact that Wanjigi, a newbie, will come up with promises on what he will be going to do that, the presidential candidates have not done despite being in the political space for years, and this might be a plus to his bid.

However, Ndonye argues that there is nothing for Wanjigi for celebrate as the Kenyan voter has been for a while rallied behind their trial chiefs, and 2022 might not be any different.
