Two dead and nine injured were caused by a tornado on the small island of Pantelleria, in the south of Sicily, last night at around 7.30 pm local time.
According to the data so far, a 47-year-old firefighter and an 86-year-old pensioner lost their lives.
Four injured are in serious condition. The terrible force of the wind threw these people out of the cars they were riding in. The inhabitants of the island stated that this is an unprecedented, extreme weather phenomenon.
The injured were transported to Sicily by helicopter and so far there are no missing persons.
At the same time, significant material damage has been recorded in many houses, where roofs and part of the interior were destroyed, and serious damage to at least ten cars.
