Kalonzo Raises Eyebrows as He Sends This Message to Ruto

Must read

Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper party, has stated that he is willing to compete for the presidency with Deputy President William Ruto.

In a TV interview on Sunday, September 13, Kalonzo stated that, unlike other leaders who have expressed interest in the presidency, he is not afraid of the DP.

“The one thing that I would look forward to is being given the opportunity to fight it out with Ruto. I do not know why people are afraid of him, they assume he is kind of a scare thing,” Kalonzo said.

While arguing that the DP has the constitutional right to run for the country’s top job, Kalonzo noted that Ruto’s opponents are growing, and that his desire is to be among those campaigning against him.

“Ruto has been running alone all along and the ground swell against him is getting very interesting and what I want is be part of that groundswell and not just to face up Ruto but another person who is going for the presidency,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo cited previous general elections in which Ukambani residents threw their support behind Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, claiming that he has the numbers to run for president in 2022.

“I can tell you that the community form which I come from is very solid, when we were in NASA and CORD, the community supported me solidly,” Kalonzo said.

The Wiper boss also claimed that his political vehicle is on the move to reach Kenyans in all parts of the country, claiming that he already knows how to get to the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.

“For the record, I consider myself a Mt Kenya region personality because I am from the East of that mountain. I intend to climb the mountain from Tharaka Nithi, upwards through Meru by the time I am in Nyeri, people will notice that this country is one,” Kalonzo said.
