Nakuru Doctor who allegedly killed his two children by injecting with an unknown chemical substance has died in Nakuru while undergoing treatment at the Level five hospital.
Dr James Gakara was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, September 19th after he was found lying unconscious next to his two kids at his home by the police officers.
He was admitted and put in the Intensive Care Unit from Sunday until today where he was pronounced dead.
According to the area Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri had also tried to kill himself.
“The scene indicates some drugs were used on the children and on himself. A post-mortem [examination] shall be conducted to establish what type of drug it was,” She said.
James Gakara, an obstetrician, was accused of injecting an unknown substance into his 3 and 5 years old kids which led to their death.
Nakuru West DCIO who spoke with the journalists said that an autopsy that was conducted could not reveal what might have killed the minors, but samples were collected from their bodies for further investigations.
“We have engaged a pathologist for purposes of identifying the cause of the death. We haven’t been able to pinpoint the actual cause,” he said.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, The sister to the deceased Mary Gakara defended her brother saying that the brother loved his kids and would do anything to protect them.
“I know my brother very well. He would do anything to protect his children. He is also not the kind of person to commit such an act,” She said.
“He loves his family and we have never heard of any differences between my brother and his wife. They have always been happy.”
The mother of two kids Winnie Odhiambo who posted on social media vowed to get justice to her two kids, saying that they have betrayed by their own Dad.
“My heart is shattered; I failed to protect you my loves,” she posted
“The person you trusted the most betrayed you my darlings, I promise to fight for justice for you; Go well my sweethearts.”
