An unprecedented case has come to light in France, where a sixty-year-old woman was drugged by her husband and raped for ten years by strangers.
“It is rare to have so much evidence in a rape case. “Everything is described there, even though the victim, without his senses during the rapes, does not remember anything”, explained to the French Agency the police commander Jeremy Boss Blatier, from the Avignon police.
She said her husband, a 68-year-old retired craftsman, was filming all the rapes.
“It is an equally unprecedented case due to the duration of the events (between 2010 and 2020) and the number of perpetrators,” he added.
In all, 45 people were identified during the investigation, which began a year ago.
Thirty-three people, including the victim’s husband, have already been charged and arrested, while nine more have been remanded in custody. Two men are being questioned and one has died.
This unusual case began to unfold in September 2020 after a simple incident: the husband was arrested in a store after being surprised by a guard while filming under the skirts of customers.
Looking at his computer, investigators discovered videos in which his wife, who was drugged, was seen being raped by men.
On the internet, they also found messages from the husband that were posted on dating forums where he suggested to people to come and take advantage of his wife while she would not be conscious.
“The man used strong anxiolytics to seduce his wife, put her naked in bed and raised the temperature in the room to keep her awake. “The men came in quietly, whispering and if the victim shook her hand, they left,” said Police Chief Boss Blatier.
The alleged perpetrators, aged between 24 and 71, come from various walks of life. Some are single, others have children, are divorced or in a relationship.
The victim, a mother of three aged about 30, was not a weak creature under her husband’s yoke, according to police. “Shocked”, she would find out the facts during the investigation.
