Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Trans Nzoia County are investigating police officers who allegedly beaten a man to death.
In a police statement seen by a local publication the three officers beat the deceased and one other without any reason.
“During the inquiry, one Douglas Momanyi informed the officers that on 28/9/2021 at around 8:45pm while going home in company of the deceased, they were called by three police officers namely CPL Sendera, Kiprop and one NPR namely Antony who for no apparent reason beat them up,” the statement read in part.
The witness said after beating them, the officers boarded a motorbike and left.
“He stated that the deceased was in great pain as he left him behind only to learn that he died while in hospital,” the statement read.
Three officers namely David Sendera, Lius Kiprop and Antony Wangunda were arrested and they are currently assisting police with investigations.
