Locals tribute to ‘amazing’ dad and grandfather killed in Tigiji motorcycle crash

Must read

A Tigiji dad and grandfather was fatally struck by a driver in Meru County, heartbroken members of the community said.

Mutua was riding his motorcycle on the Nchoroiboro-Ruiri road when a white saloon car pulled into his path, slamming into the motorcycle.

An eyewitness told Baite Tv that the motorcycle and the car were both traveling in the same direction.

“My plea to those who own cars is to drive at a slower speed. Recently, a petrol tanker crashed into a house near the scene,” he said.

“Another Lorry was involved in a separate accident that resulted in the death of a young man. There was also another accident involving a lorry transporting potatoes. A lorry also killed two children in a separate accident,” he said.

According to the eyewitness, speeding vehicles are the primary cause of accidents along the route. He strongly urged the government to install bumps near schools, particularly St. Peters primary school and DEB.

An eyewitness said that the road was built properly but lacks speed bumps and culverts.

“We’ve complained for a long time, but the government has remained silent. The road has claimed the lives of young children and young men who would have grown up to be important people. I implore Kiraitu Murungi to respond and refrain from sleeping on the job. He should pay attention to our concerns,” he said.

According to an eyewitness, a car collided with a motorcyclist who was diverting at a nearby junction on Friday around 5 p.m. The motorcyclist, he said, was on his way to Tutwa.

“Today’s accident took the life of a man who was both a grandfather and a father. The road from Kirachene to Nchoroiboro is steep and without speed bumps,” said an eyewitness.

“The person who died in the accident on Friday has yet to be buried, and we are shocked because another accident occurred on the same spot today without a word from any leader. Residents have banded together and constructed a speed bump,” he said.

He said that there was a need for culverts along the road during the rainy season.

According to David, over ten people have died on the road, and no leader is concerned.

“A Muslim man was recently killed in an accident, and he was buried in a brief ceremony. Not long before that, a lorry and a probox were involved in an accident. Today, we witnessed another accident that claimed the life of a man named Mutua.A ProBox transporting Miraa and a lorry were involved in a head-on collision accident last month,” he said.

He said that there wasn’t a single bump along Nchoroiboro-Ruiri Market road.

According to an eyewitness, there are two primary schools and a health center along the road. He said that the owner of a house that was destroyed by a lorry has not received any compensation.
