Fetus found dumped in dam, mother of 5 arrested

Must read

A mother of 5 allegedly dumped her fetus in a dam in Ntalami village in Meru County.

It is understood that the lifeless body of the infant was discovered dumped in a dam without a head, and the body was shattered into pieces.

According to the suspect’s uncle, the Ntalami village chief was the one who suspected her because she had gone to him earlier to request a letter regarding an issue and later realized she wasn’t as heavy and had her arrested.

“She is a mother of five children born to different fathers and the sixth child was the one who perished. I’ve never met their fathers, and the only time I see her is when she’s expecting. Am the last born in the family and am not taken seriously when I made comments about my niece’s behavior to my siblings,” he said.

He urged the government to intervene and return each of the five children to their fathers.

“I have two children, ages three months and five years. I won’t be able to raise my niece’s five children on my own because it would be too much of a burden. I urge members of the community to keep an eye on expectant mothers until they give birth in order to avoid incidents like this,” he said.

According to an eyewitness, when the mother was taken to the scene, she accepted that it was her child.

“The chief said that each of the children who remained at home would be taken in by their fathers. To avoid unplanned pregnancies, I strongly advise women to use family planning methods. It was wrong to dump the deceased in a dam with water being used by members of the community,” he said.

Residents claim that the dam has provided them with water for farming, drinking, and cooking. They requested their MP Dr. Mutunga to provide security for the dam.
