[VIDEO]: Sad News Hit Kiraitu And The Ministry Of Youth Affairs

Must read

Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s Ministry of Youth, Gender, Culture and Sports received sad news after being served with court papers by Meru-based artists following accusations of corruption.

According to Promise, a Meru-based established musician, just as Kiraitu stepped aside as a minister in former President Mwai Kibaki’s government to allow investigations into the Anglo leasing scandal, Juliana Mugure, the acting CEO of Meru County Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sports, and Culture and CEC Koome Miriti should step aside to allow investigations into the theft of money intended for musicians.

“What surprised us was that when the court server went to serve the officials, he was told to return the following day. The officials, on the other hand, should be aware that the 14-day notice is approaching, and the signature required on the papers must be provided,” Promise said.

Speaking to journalists earlier, Juliana said that there was not a single established artist among the 52 that were hired who did not receive between Sh30,000 and Sh70,000.

“Among those who are complaining are some who assisted us with the work. We paid them on a daily basis,” Juliana said.

According to Promise, when the court server attempted to serve the county officials at their office last week, they claimed to be unavailable for the entire week.

“We also request that they show us any document they may have that prove our allegations are false so that we can compare them to the document we have,” Promise said.

The CEC in charge of the Meru County Ministry of Youth Gender Sports and Culture, Koome Miriti said earlier that there were musicians who intended to bring upcoming artists down.

“They don’t want to be overtaken because they believe they are ahead of other musicians and that no one can catch up to them. To assist upcoming artists in growing, we as the government need to be given time so that we can help all artists have an equal opportunity to avoid an artist being pulled by another who has been in the industry for a long time,” said Miriti.

According to Promise, County officials should be aware that Meru-based artists are educated in the same way they were.

“We know that the officials went to Nairobi to concoct figures with accountants so that they would not be embarrassed,” said Promise.

Legendary Meru Musician turned politician Man Kinyua who runs an online show dubbed ‘bathe to get cleaned’ also exposed Kiraitu’s government for lying to the Meru Making Stars winners project.

According to Mwalimu, another Meru-based established musician, the Meru Making Stars winners project began with the auditioning of talented artists from Meru County’s nine sub-counties. The artists who finished first, second, third, and fourth were expected to compete at an academy in Igoji to determine the winner

“Those who did not win received a Ksh 5000 cash prize. According to an agreement reached between established artists and the Meru County government, the artists who placed first, second, and third would have their album recorded with a video for free,” said Mwalimu.

Mwalimu said that a Ksh 200,000 prize money was to be given to each of the Meru Making Stars winners so that their parents would be proud of them and to help the artists market their songs because they would already have their album recorded.

Promise asked county officials to invite any of the Meru-based artists to a meeting to answer their questions rather than traveling to Nairobi to find solutions if they didn’t want to be embarrassed.
