A man was found dead along a street in Muriri in Meru County capital around 9:00 AM on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Mung’athia.

Residents say that the deceased worked as a factory supervisor in Michimikuru in Meru County and he suffered from a mental illness.

They then found the man lying on his back.

“Mung’athia He should be taken to the mortuary so that his family can easily locate him. I left him lying on the ground around 9 p.m. last night. Before suffering from a mental illness, he worked as a factory supervisor in Michimikuru. The police should have been notified of the incident so that we, as citizens, could assist where possible,” an eyewitness said.

According to an eyewitness, the deceased had a wife and children who attend Michimikuru School.

“The police should speed up the process of collecting the body because it does not present a good image for the public to see the body on the scene. When he was working as a supervisor, I saw him on several occasions,” he said.

An eyewitness said that the deceased was born in Michimikuru and had lived in Muriri for the past ten years.

“He used to loiter around the streets of Muriri, and strangers would offer him tea and money,” he said.

According to another eyewitness, he received a phone call that morning informing him that a body had been discovered in Muriri.

He said that when he arrived on the scene, he notified the OCS at the Muthara police station who informed him that he was on his way to collect the body.
