Alleged Armed robber shot dead

A suspected robber was gunned down after attempting to evade DCI detectives in Bungoma County.

A police report seen by Citizen Digital indicates that the suspect together with his two other accomplices were flagged down by DCI officers on patrol at around dawn but instead defied the order and sped off.

A car chase ensued prompting police to open fire.

Confirming the incident, OCPD Bungoma South, Benjamin Kimwele said that the slain suspect who was the driver of the vehicle was shot by a bullet aimed at flattening the vehicles rear tyres.

“The suspicious vehicle took a rough road towards Ndengelwa area, about 10kms east of the station. It was at this point that the officers fired at the rear tyres, and the bullet hit the driver who lost control and the vehicle landed in a ditch,” Kimwele said.

The police boss noted that the said vehicle, a blue-Toyota Wish of registration number KBK 305Z was moving from Mumias towards Bungoma.

Crime scene detectives processed the scene and the body was moved to Bungoma County Referral Morgue pending identification and post mortem.

Police recovered an assortment of goods including severeal TV sets in the suspect’s vehicle.

“We are calling upon those who may have been victims of theft around this region to come forward and help in identifying the items recovered,” he said.

The following items were recovered;

1. One TV 58 inches make Skyworth

2. One TV 43″ make vitron

3. One TV 32″ make Syinix

4. One TV 32″ make Vitron

5. One woofer make Sathiya

6. One woofer make Getron

7. A 6kg gas cylinder

8. 14 metallic plates

9. A flask

10. A black kitchen knife

11. A pair of gumboots

12. Two gas grills.

13. One housebreaking implement.

The vehicle has since been towed to Bungoma police station yard and the recovered items kept as exhibits.
