Headless body of woman found in a maize plantation

Must read

A murdered woman’s headless body was found Monday in Nkabune village in North Imenti, Meru County, Area Chief confirmed.

According to the chief, two pedestrians on a motorcycle reported seeing what they believed to be a body around 1:00 pm.

When police arrived, they found the body with a missing head, the chief said.

An eyewitness said it was clear that the head was missing and he wasn’t sure enough what he was looking at at first.

“It was very surprising — sort of surreal,” he said. “It looked like it had been there for a while, or someone had recently came and dropped it off.”

Police have not been able to identify the victim yet. Because the circumstances of the death are unknown, the case is being treated as a “suspicious death.” The area where the body was found is known as Aboegiri.

“A motorcycle with three pedestrians passed me around 1:00 p.m. as I was walking with the area manager from the home of one of the community members to solve a case.” They came to a halt a short distance ahead of us and called me to tell me they had discovered a woman’s headless body. They claimed it was covered by a jumper,” the chief said.

“They dismounted the motorcycle, and the driver carried us to the scene. We were the first to arrive on the scene and confirmed that the head was missing. A few minutes later, a group of young men arrived on the scene, and I asked them to follow the blood trail to see if they could find the head,” she said.

“They discovered the head a few meters from the body. The deceased appears to have been identified, but family members have yet to arrive to confirm, so we cannot draw any conclusions. We’re only hearing rumors, and we don’t have enough evidence to back them up,” the chief said.

A resident condemned such inhumane killings, claiming that the government had a long arm and that the killers would be revealed once the investigations are completed.

“What surprised us was that the murderers dropped the head a few meters away from the body. The deceased is said to be the daughter of one of the members of the community. I have yet to examine the head to see if the rumors are true,” said an eyewitness

A similar case occurred on June 29, when a man’s decapitated head was left on someone’s maize plantation in Charuru-Tigania in Meru County.

The man’s severed bald head lay in the maize plantation, few meters off a rural road with his bloodstained clothes located a few meters away.

The residents suspected that the head belonged to a headless body discovered two weeks earlier in Kaundune, Meru County.

Residents demanded the resignation of Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, claiming that there had been no development and rampant cases of insecurity in the area since the governor was elected.
