How Kiraitu Shot Himself On The Leg By Going Against South Imenti Residents

Must read

Nkubu leaders continue to criticize Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, accusing him of betraying South Imenti residents.

According to a leader from Nkubu, residents had become frequent complainers as a result of being denied a sub-county despite having a large population.

“We’ve been begging a lot when we have numbers, and we’re the ones who want one man, one shilling, and one vote. Subdivisions, on the other hand, are being done based on what specific individuals desire. The commission that drafted a proposal in 2011 recommended that Nkuene-Mitunguu become a sub-county,” said a leader.

He said that the government announced in 2018 that an application be made for the gazettement of three sub-counties. He said that the BBI later proposed that Nkuene be made a sub-county.

“We are now being told that the sub-county will not be formed. We were given the sub-county at the same time as Buuri, which was gazetted. Mutuati was also made a Sub-county, but we were left out. We are issuing a warning that, despite the fact that Nkuene residents have a large population, the Sub-county should be given to Igoji residents, who have a small population, on the condition that the boundary is within forest and Nyaki,” he said.

According to the leader, because it appears that the large population of Nkuene residents is being ignored, the sub-county should be given to the small population of Igoji residents.

“We will not follow the laws and leadership of the county and national governments if we do not receive a sub-county. There is no other way to make us obey the laws of the National and County governments than to be assigned to the Nkuene, Mitunguu, or Igoji sub-counties,” he said.

According to another leader, residents voted for Kiraitu as an MP and Governor expecting their lives to improve, but he intervened and prevented residents from receiving a sub-county in order to protect the interests of his close allies.

“As a woman from Nkuene in Mitunguu, I want to scream at Kiraitu Murungi and wonder how long he will continue to torture us. He should fear God because the people of South Imenti have been very supportive of him for a long time; they should be given their own sub-county,” she said.

She informed the people of Nkuene that they had an enemy named Kiraitu Murungi, and that if it weren’t for him, they’d have a sub-county right now.

“Buuri’s population is small in comparison to Nkuene’s, but they were granted a sub-county. Mutuati was also given a subcounty. We’re wondering how long he’ll make us suffer. We intend to dive into the water to look for him because he claims to be a crocodile in the water,” she said.

She stated that they had given Kiraitu Murungi a 14-day notice, after which if they did not receive a sub-county, he should not sell them his bus party.

She said that the leaders of Nkubu conducted an analysis and discovered that Kiraitu did not have the interests of the residents of Mitunguu and Nkuene at heart.
