A woman has been slashed with a sealine at Kaithe Karama village in Tigania, Meru County.
The victim was taken to hospital after the attack on Tuesday morning at her house.
An eyewitness said that the victim received a deep cut on her head and left hand, which was not life-threatening.
“The attackers took advantage of the rain to attack Kinya because her screams could not be heard. I urge the government to pursue the attackers, who are most likely from the community. When we took her to the hospital, the doctor requested an O.B. We went to get the O.B. and returned her to the hospital where she was stitched up,” she said.
He said that the community was dealing with a high level of alcohol consumption, and the suspects were most likely alcoholics in need of a steady cash flow to quench their thirst.
According to Kinya’s sister, she received a call around 12 a.m. informing her that she had been attacked. She said that when she arrived on the scene, she discovered that she was heavily bleeding all over her body.
“We took her to the hospital, and according to the doctor’s report, she had multiple deep cuts on her body. While she was sleeping, she heard a loud bang on her door. The suspects apprehended her before she could flee and one of the suspects stood guard at the door, while the other began attacking her with a sealine,” Kinya’s sister said.
An eyewitness said that he arrived on the scene armed with a machete around 12:00 a.m. after hearing loud screams.
“I found Kinya was lying in a pool of blood and the attackers had fled,” he said.
According to the eyewitness, Kinya informed him that her assailant was wearing a mask, spectacles, and a jacket and that identifying him was difficult.
