Not Again | County Government Exposed For Alleged Corruption

Must read

Residents of Meru town are concerned about county government projects because there are open deep pits all over the Meru town matatu terminus.

Previously, Meru County MP Hon Bishop Kawira Mwangaza claimed that the Meru town matatu terminus renovations cost Sh1 billion and questioned why such a large sum was spent when there were no toilets, stairs, or modern stalls.

“I am opposed to Kiraitu’s government taking shortcuts in development. Kiraitu’s officials approach me in the middle of the night, confessing that they know Kiraitu will be deposed and that they are on my side “said Kawira.

An eyewitness expressed gratitude to BaiteTv for airing their complaints.

He said that the county government should redo the renovations at the Meru town matatu terminus.

“Despite claims that the County Government spent Sh1 billion on the projects, many of them remain unfinished. Locals are outraged as motorcycles and vehicles plunge into open deep pits,” an eyewitness said.

According to another eyewitness, before bragging about the accomplishment, the county government ought to have installed guard rails.

“They rushed through the renovations and ended up doing sloppy work. Unknowingly, a motorist recently drove a lorry into an open trench. Officials should keep in mind that election season is approaching, and residents have the power to vote for their preferred candidates,” an eyewitness said.

A motorist said that motorists were put at risk by the open deep pits and would have to pay a high price to have vehicle springs repaired.

He urged the county government to cover the open pits to prevent future accidents from occuring.

According to another motorist, a lorry carrying goods that crashed into the open deep pit remained at the scene for an entire day before being towed.

“The County government should move quickly to cover all open trenches,” he said.

A resident of Kithirune said Kiraitu deprived Githongo hospital of medicine and equipment, and that he should not expect residents to vote for him.

“The covers collapsed when vehicles drove over the open pits. I’m curious how the funds were spent on such shoddy construction work, given that the trenches have only been in place for two weeks. The renovations should not have been carried out if such shoddy work was to be done,” he said.

A boda boda operator said that Motorists evading the open deep pits caused massive traffic jams.

Kawira said that the Meru County residents were yet to see development because when she becomes Governor, it would resemble Canaan.
