Mzee Jedial from Rungu-Njia donated his land for the construction of a water tank out of compassion for the people’s lack of water.
Residents of Rungu in an interview with BAITETV implored the government to also have mercy on them and recognize their need for water.
They said that the land donated by mzee Jedial has been neglected and cracks had formed on the concrete tank, which was not what the people desired.
“The problem we have in the community is a lack of water, and it is false to allege that the population is small. We walk long distances to get water, and we tried to start a water project to bring water to the community, but the distance made it impossible,” said Kathoni.
“We were told that we would be brought water after the tank was cemented, but we are yet to receive it. After many false promises that the tank would be filled with water, the tank is now lies empty.
If the area’s water problem is solved, we will be overjoyed.We request that governor Kiraitu assist the Rungu community access water. We appear to have been let down by the MCA,” said Thuranira.
