Police are investigatingĀ  the death of a 45-year-old woman whose body was found along a road in Mwiyo-Igembe on April 26.

Senior assistant chief, Muringene location, Mr. Gitonga told BaiteTv that he received a call from Mr. Mithika, the Nyumba Kumi area manager, informing him that a woman was dropped off on a motorcycle at Mwiyo and later died.

“Mr. Mithika, the Nyumba Kumi area manager, informed me that a woman had been dropped off on a motorcycle at Mwiyo. Later, the woman died. I called the police, who arrived later to retrieve the body. When I arrived at the scene from Muringene, I discovered that the deceased was 45 years old and was known as Kananu. I’m not sure what caused her death, but we’re waiting for the autopsy results. I urge that the next time such an incident occurs, people refrain from crowding because it causes the victim to run out of oxygen. Only one person is expected to remove their shoes and loosen their clothing to allow for free air circulation,” Senior assistant chief Gitonga told BaiteTv.

An eyewitness at the scene said: “The deceased was a regular banana customer of mine in Muringene. I was on my way to my shamba from Maua today, and as I stepped off my motorcycle, I noticed a crowd forming. I decided to investigate what had happened, only to discover that a woman from my community had died. I was astounded to learn that the deceased was the same woman who frequently bought bananas from me so that I could provide for my children.”

“I urge people to exercise extreme caution when in the presence of the deceased because the cause of her death has yet to be determined. Despite the high number of reported covid-19 cases, people are busy touching without wearing masks,” another eyewitness told BaiteTv.
