Karnataka will be completely shut down from May 10 to May 24, according to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday. He went on to say that all activities, including industries, pubs, and bars, would be halted.

On Thursday, riding the pandemic’s second wave, Karnataka recorded a record 49,058 new Covid cases, including 23,706 in Bengaluru, in a single day, with 328 patients succumbing to the virus, according to the state health bulletin.

“With 49,058 new cases on Wednesday, the state’s Covid tally rose to 17,90,104, including 5,17,075 active cases. Recoveries rose to 12,55,797 with 18,943 patients discharged during the day” according to the bulletin.

Bengaluru, the state’s epicenter, reported 23,706 new cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of Covid cases to 8,87,086, including 3,32,732 active cases and 5,47,208 recovered so far. with 4,149 discharges in the previous 24 hours.
