Must read

A man was reportedly fatally hit with a stone outside the New Peak bar in Muili-Tigania, Meru county. Police have made no arrests and are seeking witnesses. One man died and another was hospitalized after the fight at the bar.

Police were called to the Market, in the Muili neighborhood, the next morning. They found one man dead and people running from the scene.

The aunt to the deceased told BaiteTv that when she arrived at the scene, she saw a jacket, trouser, short, and a cap. When she looked closely at the items, she realized they belonged to her nephew.

“When I asked the crowd what had happened, I was told that my nephew had been killed. I hadn’t seen where he was lying, but a small child next to me pointed to him lying in a pool of water,” she said.

Mutuma, an eyewitness said that the deceased allegedly had a disagreement with a man named Mr. Mutuma, who is suspected of murder, the previous night.

“It is also claimed that when suspect accidentally hit the deceased with a stone, the MCA, Mr. Ntoribi, rushed the suspect to the hospital because he had also been injured while leaving the deceased fighting for his life at the scene,” he said.

Mr. Ntoribi, MCA, urged residents to wait for the investigations to reveal the truth and to refrain from politicizing the issue. He said that the fact that he educated Mwenda, brother to John, the deceased, does not imply that he disliked him.

“The deceased held a grudge against me, and I could see why. They are all children in my community, and I treat them all equally. I urge residents to follow the curfew rules imposed by the government and to refrain from drinking irresponsibly,” he said.

Speaking to BaiteTv, the assistant chief said that he was called by Mr. Kilema Joshua who informed him that a man identified as Maore had been discovered dead at the market.

“When I arrived at the scene, I confirmed the murder and notified the DC’s office and Tigania Police Station. During my investigation, I discovered that two men had gotten into a brawl at the New Peak bar. One of them was taken to the hospital with a fractured leg, while the other died on the spot.

“Further investigations will be conducted by the police to determine the truth of the matter. I strongly advise the government to conduct patrols in Muiri market and other areas to prevent bars from opening after 7:00 p.m,” he said.
