Five gangsters shot dead

Must read

Five gangsters were killed in a shootout with detectives from the elite Special Service Unit yesterday afternoon (SSU). Before they were gunned down, the bloodthirsty hoodlums were on their way to Kakamega on a robbery attempt.

The gangsters were apprehended at Makhokho, but they defied orders and began shooting indiscriminately at the detectives. Their feeble assault, however, was no match for the detectives’ barrage of gunfire, which rendered them immobile in seconds and killed all of them.

SSU detectives had followed the suspects stealthily along the Kakamega-Kisumu road before pounced on them, acting on intelligence. The marauding five-man gang, which was riding in a silver Toyota Belta, had planned a series of other robberies in the area.

Before their mission was cut short, they visited Bungoma and Mumias cities.
The suspects were found with two handguns, including a mini ceska CZ75 armed with six 9mm bullets. A police pocket phone, a pair of blue Police shirts, and a pair of navy blue Police shirts were also found.

Among other things, there are slacks and balaclavas. The suspects’ bodies were taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital for identification. Please call 0800 722 203 if you have any details you’d like to share with the DCI anonymously.
