Gazetted results of the 2021 by-elections

The names of the winners in the recently concluded by-elections have been published by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC).

In a Gazette notification dated May 26, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati stated that George Koimburi Ndung’u of the Peoples Empowerment Party won the Juja Constituency in Kiambu County.

After receiving 12,159 votes, Koimburi was elected to the Juja seat. He defeated Susan Njeri of Jubilee, who garnered 5,746 votes. With 1,356 votes, Joseph Gichui, a young medical doctor and an independent candidate, placed in third place.

Robert Oimeke, the winner of the Bonchari elections with 8,049 votes, was also gazetted by the IEBC. Oimeke, who ran on an ODM platform, is a former director of the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

Zebedeo Opore of the Jubilee Party came in second with 7,279 votes, while Teresa Bitutu of the United Democratic Alliance came in third with 6,964 votes.

Francis Githaiga of the UDA’s Rurii constituency in Nyandarua was also gazetted by Chebukati. He received 4,303 votes.
