New battles in eastern with 4 dead

Must read

Deaths and injuries were reported in eastern Ukraine on Monday, with pro-Russian separatists and the government in Kiev blaming each other for violating the ceasefire agreement.

According to media reports, separatist forces said they had suffered four casualties and five others were injured in the northwestern part of Daniec, one of their strongholds, when government troops opened fire.

For its part, the Ukrainian army accused the separatists of being the first to violate the ceasefire agreement by firing mortars and anti-tank guns near Krasnogorivka.

It is impossible to verify from independent sources which version is valid.

Pro-Russian separatists have controlled the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, known as Donbass, along the border with Russia since 2014. According to UN figures, the long-running armed conflict has claimed the lives of at least 13,000 people. At least 90 people have been killed this year, including civilians.
