Troops of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) entered the northern Ethiopian city of Sire today, two eyewitnesses said, strengthening their position in the area as the Ethiopian army and its allies retreat.
“Everyone welcomes and celebrates. “Now there are many (TPLF fighters) and most of them are in uniform,” a resident told Reuters.
The two eyewitnesses asked not to be named, fearing retaliation.
The representative of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia and the representative of the army have not commented on this development.
