With their mouths open and their hair drawn, doctors were left in India facing a baby who was born with a rare genetic disorder.
The baby girl was born with two heads and three arms in a private clinic in the Kendrapara district of Odisha, but her transfer to the intensive care unit of the “Kendrapara District Headquarter Hospital” was considered urgent, in order to claim the minimum chance of being kept alive.
From there, the unfortunate baby was transported to the most specialized hospital Sishu Bhawan, where he is being treated in critical condition.

At the same time, his parents, Umakant Parida and Ambika Parida, who live in Rajnagar, are unable to afford his hospitalization and treatment, making a dramatic appeal to the government for financial assistance.
According to the first explanations, this is an extremely rare case of conjugated twins, which due to a chromosome abnormality were united in one body with common organs, but two heads.
This rare case is called dicephalus parapagus, and the chances of the baby surviving in this condition are slim.
According to the American Journal of Medical Genetics, the chance of giving birth to married twins is one in 100,000, while only 11% of it concerns twins dicephalus parapagus.
