Must read

A man was found dead hanging from a hosepipe tied to a tree, an assistant chief said.

Eyewitnesses said the man was from Kiindio Kailutha village, Meru County, and was orphaned. He was found shortly after 8:30 a.m on the scene.

Officers were escorted to the scene and discovered a hosepipe tied around a tree.

The assistant chief said the deceased appeared to have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped at the scene where he was discovered. He said he couldn’t determine the cause of death at the time, but the police would compile a report following investigations and a postmortem.

“At 8.30 a.m., I received a phone call informing me that a body had been discovered hanging from a tree with a hosepipe,” said the assistant chief.

“The incident occurred in Kiindio village, Kitharene sub-location.

“My advice to young people is to be responsible and marry before the age of 30. They must uphold moral values and serve as role models for the community,” said the assistant chief.

Elijah, assistant chief, Kitharene sub-location urged the youth to be responsible, as such incidents were common among the Kenyan youth.

“I am not claiming that the deceased died as a result of drug addiction, but young people should avoid using drugs because it can influence them to commit suicide,” said the assistant chief.

According to a resident, on the day before his death, the deceased greeted her in the company a group of friends. She said the deceased was a typical hustler who never had any problems.

“He was orphaned, as well,” said the resident.

Another resident strongly condemned such killings of members of the community and urged the police to expedite their investigations into the death. He said that knowing the cause of death would prevent a similar incident from happening to another member of the community.

“I suspect foul play in his death because his feet are on the ground and a hosepipe tied around his neck is suspended from a tree. He could have been killed before being brought to the scene, in my opinion,” said the resident.
